This week at Click Travel, we hit a major milestone of selling our 2,000,000th ticket through our very own rail platform: OpenRail.
As a TMC with a strong technological background, Click Travel decided to strive forward outside of the traditional restrictions of TMCs and develop its own cloud based rail service called OpenRail back in May 2011.
Thanks to OpenRail’s elimination of ticket on departure fees, countless organisations have made dramatic savings on their rail and will continue to do into the future.
With the aim of cutting a layer of cost out of the ticketing process, whilst simultaneously providing a better end user experience, OpenRail was launched to compete with specialist rail providers such as thetrainline and Evolvi.
Managing director, Jill Palmer commented on the landmark 2 millionth ticket sale, saying “I’m thrilled to see OpenRail achieve 2,000,000 ticket sales so quickly; we made the 1,000,000 mark not so long ago and the speed with which we’ve hit the 2,000,000 landmark demonstrates how we’re continuing to progress and go from strength to strength.”
Jill added, “It’s a true testament to all the hard work that our software engineers have carried out over the last few years to create our unique rail platform to support our award winning online booking tool. Thanks to OpenRail’s elimination of ticket on departure fees, countless organisations have made dramatic savings on their rail and will continue to do into the future.”
The dedicated Click team celebrated the milestone in style on Friday afternoon with pizza for all in the office!
