The definition of pre-trip approval [in under 100 words] - Click Travel

Pre-trip approval is a mechanism by which approval is gained for business travel before the trip actually takes place. The advantage of pre-trip approval vs. post-trip approval is that the trip can typically be cancelled if approval is not granted, thus avoiding unnecessary costs being incurred.

A variety of pre-trip approval systems are available in the marketplace, but most only support bookings with traditional air carriers that provide the ability to “hold” reservations temporarily, and thus provide a window for the approval process to take place. There are however a number of new-breed pre-trip approval systems that work across all travel types.
